The SIA Badge

Once you have completed your course and passed your exams, you can apply for your SIA licence.

The aim of the SIA (Security Industry Authority), the UK licensing authority for the private security industry, is to increase the skill and professionalism of those employed in the Security Industry and to enhance the public's consumer confidence.

Therefore anyone carrying out CVIT, CCTV/PPS, Door Supervision, Security Supervision, Security Guarding, Security Consulting, Close Protection, Key Holding and Private Investigation must hold a valid SIA licence.

You will need an SIA licence from the Security Industry Authority if you wish to work as a Door Supervisor and are responsible for security, protection or screening the suitability of persons entering licensed premises or dealing with conflict in pubs, clubs and other license premises open to the public. The cost of the licence is £220.00.

You will need an SIA licence from the Security Industry Authority if you wish to work as a Security Officer and are responsible for security or protection of premises open to the public. The cost of the licence is £220.00.

If you are considering work as a Security Officer or Door Supervisor, you need to have either an SIA Door Supervisor licence or a Security Guard licence. It is illegal to work as a Security Officer or Door Supervisor without an SIA Security licence.

Please go to either the Cheap Door Supervisor Training Courses or Training Courses page for more information.
